You can use the renew operation to renew a domain name on your tag up to six months before its expiry date. You can also use the renew operation after expiry, right up until the domain name is cancelled. Further information on the renewal processes is available.

When you use the renew operation, be aware of the following:
  • The renew operation can only be successful from 182 days before the domain name's expiry date until it is cancelled.

How to renew a domain name:

  1. Create a new email message to applications@nic.uk
  2. Use the subject TAG Renew (replace TAG with your tag name in capital letters).
  3. Use the following template in your email message:

    operation: renew
    key:


    Notes:
    • It is mandatory to include values for all the fields in this template.  For more information on template fields, see our field definitions.
    • To renew more than one domain name, you can repeat the 'key:' separated by a blank line up to 100 times.

  4. PGP sign and send the email.


You will receive confirmation from the Automaton if the operation is successful. In addition, a notification email will be sent to the registrant of the domain name.
